Preparing to celebrate Pentecost

on 31st May 2020

A nine day Novena to the Holy Spirit from Ascension to Pentecost

Traditionally the Church prepares for the celebration of Pentacost with a nine day Novena to the Holy Spirit. This helps us to grow in personal holiness, and helps us all to join together in prayer to welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives and to bless the whole world.

The Liturgy Commission of the diocese has prepared two novenas this year to help guide us in prayer.

The first Novena asks us to simply take time and reflect on some of the texts that are given in the liturgy of the Church on the nine days between Ascension and Pentecost.

This second Novena offers us the traditional texts for use on the nine days between Ascension and Pentecost, in this Novena seek the presence of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

We have no answers to the current crisis except to put our trust in God, God who is always faithful.
